Overview

As a CFD Methodology Engineer at SAIC Volkswagen, I developed and calibrated automated OpenFOAM workflows for external and underhood aerodynamics.

Methodology work

A vehicle simulation needs more than a converged solver run. Mesh resolution and numerical settings affect the result, and automated workflows must remain reliable across complex geometries.

My work included mesh-sensitivity studies, convergence assessment, and numerical robustness checks. These checks supported the use of a consistent simulation methodology across automotive cases.

My contribution

  • Established and calibrated automated OpenFOAM simulation workflows.
  • Assessed mesh sensitivity and convergence for external and underhood vehicle flows.
  • Investigated numerical robustness on complex automotive geometries.
  • Mentored graduate engineers in OpenFOAM, parallel computing, and machine learning.

Connected projects

This methodology work accompanied my development of SPH models for water management, an active-learning aerodynamic prediction framework, and aeroacoustic noise-prediction software.
